SEE TRACK PAGE 18 April April Photo & Article by Estormeo Serena Nearly 200 student-athletes converged at Salome High School today, March 27, for the highly an- ticipated Letterman's Club Track Meet. With com- petitions spanning across both 5th and 6th-grade as well as 7th and 8th-grade categories, the event showcased the athletic prowess and determination of young talents from across the three districts. Ehrenberg Elementary School soared to victory, securing the coveted title as the Overall Champion in 5th and 6th Grade Category (Boys) and 2nd Place in the 7th and 8th Grade Category (Boys). Jayden Torres' exceptional versatility shown brightly at this year's meet securing 1st Place in 4 x 100 Relay, Long Jump, 200m Run, along with the commendable 2nd Place fi nish in High Jump event. Torres was hailed as the Outstanding Athlete leav- ing an indelible mark on the competition. Dakota Beynon, Eian Barnett, Eliad Lopez and Jayden Torres (The Anchor) in 4 x 100m Relay smoked their opponents as they fi nished 1st Place in a long-distance gap during the anchor leg of the competition. Eian Barnett ruled among 30 runners as he ran to his maximum velocity and declared him as the 1st place in 100m Run event. On the other hand, Bar- nett started in a "chin-knee-toe" position and made a two-step turn to gather momentum, then pushed the shot away from his body, landing him 2nd in the Shot-Put 5th and 6th grade category. Tied in the same category is Eli Rascon, who also concluded 2nd in Shot Put and 3rd in 400m run event. While, Jebadijah Del Rial started in a stagger start game plan shifted to even-split technique and launched a drive phase (last phase) strategy as he began his segment and accelerated to the top made him fi nish as the fastest runner in 400m run. On the other hand, Hector Molina launched a power sprint with hitch kick strategy and landed with 15.1 ft distance from the take-off point. He maintained his position last year as the champion in the same event. Moreover, he fi nished 2nd in High Jump when performing the double arm take-off. Molina also ranked 3rd in 200m run. He is the 2nd Most Outstanding Athlete in the 7th and 8th Category. Meanwhile, Issak Rascon, Maaziah Fogle, Damian Rivas and Hector Molina ended 2nd Place in the home straight part of the track, even hustling at the end of the fi nish line.
